A patient person is someone who, when ill, exhibits remarkable strength and resilience. I have seen incredibly strong individuals who, upon falling ill, show no sign of their suffering and do not speak of it to others. Such people are blessed with Allah’s mercy. When a person is ill, Allah instructs the angels to watch over them and observe what the sick person does. If someone visits them and the first thing the patient does is express gratitude to Allah and praises Him, before briefly mentioning their illness, the angels immediately pray for their health and recovery. On the other hand, if the patient starts complaining about their suffering and expresses despair, saying things like, “Oh, I am dying, the pain is unbearable, it’s spread throughout my body,” the angels say that the person will remain in that state.
