“Our claim as Muslims is significant, asserting that a true Muslim does not possess a dead heart. However, if a Muslim spends all day engulfed in worldly love, then indeed, their heart becomes lifeless. A ‘dead heart’ doesn’t imply disbelief or apostasy. Rather, it signifies a heart overwhelmed by worldly matters. When the world occupies the heart, it becomes lifeless. This condition can befall anyone, including myself or you. There are moments when a person gravitates immensely towards the love of Allah, as the Quran itself states that when its verses are recited, it strengthens the believers’ faith. This suggests that faith can wane or intensify. At times, sitting in the company of a saint may momentarily heighten our spiritual fervor. But the moment we deviate slightly, we find ourselves back where we started, ensnared again by the same worldly concerns and anxieties.”
